I have a laptop with windows XP sp3. I recently bought a Simpletech 750GB external harddrive. I understand that i must format it and assign it a driver letter. The driver is plug and play. It installed all necessary drivers. It displays the HDD in device manager and in disk management. The problem is when i right click the Partition I am supposed to click Format and change driver letter and path, but i cannot. I can only click help. In properties the partition style is Master Boot Record. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Under status in disk management it is labled as "healthy (GPT Protective Partition.)" So what else is there to do? Please help me. |

In Disk Management are you able to right-click the drive in the section under "Disk 0", "CD-ROM 0", etc? It may have the option initialize there rather than in the Partitions section. |
