732643	2008-12-26 09:05:00	Friends have got their first computer, a new desktop unit with Vista, from DSE. I've helped them get up & running with email (Outlook Express) and loaded Firefox V 3.0.5 for their web browsing, plus set up some anti malware stuff.But i can't get any audio working. i can find no speakers on the lcd monitor and there is no sound from within the case. i plugged an old speaker in but got no response (we were running an email that has sound) A summary of the unit's Multimedia components shows only one item - "Realtek high definition Audio" Is this the hardware for the audio? If not, how can i check whether the system has necessary hardware for output of sound? And presumably i cd load say Windows Media Player (which surprisingly is not loaded) as audio and video software. incidentally, having now seen Vista, i have no hurry to upgrade from XP.	timmy5953 (6846)
732644	2008-12-26 09:23:00	It wont have sound in the case. The outputs are on the back, maybe on the front of the case as well. You need to plug speakers into one of them, to get sound WMP should be on it since its part of Windows Does it / or did it say the LCD has speakers on it?? Not all do Yup Realtek high definition Audio is the sound . If it says this in Vista the sound is onboard. And as above the outputs are on the back / or front	Speedy Gonzales (78)
732645	2008-12-26 09:24:00	Try control panel, sound, and test Vista sound. Not all lcd monitors have speakers anyway. On the rear of the system box plug a speaker into the green output. Realtek will be on board sound.	Sweep (90)
732646	2008-12-28 21:16:00	thank you both for yr help... have now got sound working. We cant get much volume. even though we've raised the volume on the audio setting. But using a really old pair of speakers so theyre going to get a better pair.	timmy5953 (6846)
