733786 2008-12-31 02:06:00 Hi Folks,

Laptop with XP SP2 OS wont boot into normal windows so booted into safe mode with networking which works fine and wanted to connect via wireless. The networks show up but i cant connect and a google search shows that the wireless is effectively disabled.

Is there an easy workaround to get the wireless going?

Cheers

733787 2008-12-31 02:17:00 You could try starting the Wireless Zero configuration Service. CYaBro (73)
733788 2008-12-31 02:26:00 You could try starting the Wireless Zero configuration Service.
Start > Run > "services.msc". Scroll down until you see the entry "Wireless Zero Configuration". Next, right-click it and click "Start"

After that, right-click on the wireless adaptor and click "Use WZC" or similar. Alternatively, right-click the wireless adaptor, click "Properties". After that, click "Configure" and click "Advanced" in the new window. Look for the entry "WZC managed ethernet". On the option box on the right, select "Enabled". Click "Ok" to save.

Cheers :)

733789 2008-12-31 03:13:00 Opened Services and seen it was already "Started" and "Automatic" so right clicked and hit "Restart" anyway.

Wasn't able to find that particular option in the advanced section of the wireless adpater's properties.

There were some ad hoc options, throughput, power management etc but no WZC managed ethernet option.

The adapter is an Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG

Guess i'm buggered ayes

Couldn't find a spare network cable hence trying the wireless option :(

Thanks for the assistance CyaBro and Jamuz!

Cheers

733790 2008-12-31 03:44:00 You'll have to use a wired connection - wireless very rarely works in safe mode with networking - Even MS Advce that (support.microsoft.com). wainuitech (129)
