733776 2008-12-31 00:18:00 Hi All

my Pixma ip3000 seems to have died it won't turn on have tried another lead and tested the original lead they work fine so suspect might be the switch anyone have a clue as to how much to get a new switch fitted if that's what is wrong.

Bearing in mind I can get a new ip4600 for $172 from Ascent is it even worth fixing?

:thanks

Ring Canon to find the nearest service agent in your area and ask them for an estimate.

733778 2008-12-31 01:09:00 Plan to when they open on Monday I already know who my nearest service centre is, just wondered if anyone had an idea on price before then. Thanks gary67 (56)
733779 2008-12-31 01:32:00 Call Lazers Edge, they're at 135 St Vincent St, 546 8848.

733780 2008-12-31 01:46:00 Just dropped wife at Vets with cat then went round the corner to see if they were open but not until Monday bugger, oh well happy new year to you all. gary67 (56)
733781 2009-01-04 22:08:00 Well took printer in this morning, the power supply in it had failed, Lazer's edge fitted a second hand one off the shelf and it works so was able to leave with it. They charged me $45 all up where as a new power pack was going to cost that without fitting. Tech told me that the new models such as the 3600 and 4600 now have 5 ink tanks not 4 like mine and the tanks are smaller as well as being about $3-4 more expensive gary67 (56)
733782 2009-01-04 22:11:00 Glad to hear you got it sorted, they're really good at Lazers Edge. Inkjet printers are becoming more and more uneconomic to run. :( wratterus (105)
733783 2009-01-04 22:25:00 Last year when I visited Lazers Edge for service on an old Epsom (which they had last serviced in 2001), they pointed out that their basic service charge was probably more than the printer was worth and recommended a change - which I did. Nice people.

On a different tack... I bought a Canon iP4500 which has the five tanks mentioned above. Two of them are black...... the device seems to use ink from both blacks (I run a lot of Greyscale). Can anyone tell me why it needs two blacks?

733784 2009-01-04 22:28:00 Epson. ;)

Number 5 and 8 for the black cartridges is it? Normally ones a normal and ones a photo (I think). I guess if you print pictures it would use the photo (8), and text would use the normal. (5)

Dont know if it actually works like that in practise though.

733785 2009-01-05 00:29:00 Yes as far as I know the second black is for photo's, was looking at the 4600 if my 3000 couldn't be fixed gary67 (56)
