733664 2008-12-30 07:12:00 I'm getting this frequently and it is becoming annoying.

I've done some searches and get a lot of hits but nothing tells me how to fix it.

Any ideas?

XP Home SP2
I've done AVG and AdAware scans with no adverse results.

733665 2008-12-30 07:15:00 Usually its a file thats corrupted

Does the crash show the name of a file?? That usually tells you whats causing it

733666 2008-12-30 15:18:00 Yeah, I recently had to fix a laprop with the problem of explorer endlessly restarting in a loop.
The problem pointed to mpegslitter.ax or something, located in the codec directory.
Renamed it to mpegsplitter.ax.old and the problem was solved.

I think you have a similar problem, so try to see if the crash points any files/codecs/drivers

Look in event viewer(Run>eventvwr) and see if the crash shows any names

Cheers

733667 2008-12-30 16:07:00 Upgrading to SP3 solved several problems for me and caused none. I suggest you Try it. Vince (406)
733668 2008-12-31 09:54:00 Try going to Start>Run, type in sfc /scannow, press Enter; you will probably need your Xp disk in the drive. feersumendjinn (64)
733669 2009-01-06 06:46:00 The entry sfc/scannow is not correct.

Is there a repair option from the XP disk?

You need a space between c and / so it reads sfc /scannow
