733368 2008-12-29 11:45:00 Hi. I'm wondering if someone could tell me what exactly governs the option of booting into safe mode: is it the BIOS/motherboard, or the OS? Because the standard 'press f8 during bootup' isn't working (I have an Albatron VIA KT600 ), but, stupidly, the exact method of bringing up that menu with the boot options ('Start Windows normally', 'Start Windows in Safe Mode' etc) isn't mentioned in the manual. All I know is that it definately isn't press/hold/tap f8. Any help would be great, as currently my only method is to use msconfig, from within Windows, to set which level of Windows will load on next startup, which is less than desirable. Kindel (6640)

Is your keyboard USB or PS2?

If this is what youre talking about, press F5 after you reboot.

It'll bring up the menu for safe mode
