733268 2008-12-29 03:12:00 The second page of this PDF has the motherboard layout with the audio jumper positions: bizsupport1.austin.hp.com

Do you have external speakers that work?

733269 2008-12-29 03:16:00 no no speakers work lisamarie01 (6731)
733270 2008-12-29 03:31:00 If you have onboard sound, then your external speakers should work.

Did you reinstall the operating system?

Silly question, but are you sure you got the external speakers plugged into the correct socket? It should be the green one.

733271 2008-12-29 03:37:00 i don't have oboard sound tho, was just saying my sound is on the motherboard not a separate sound card :), nothing coming thru the speakers. also yes the speakers are plugged into the right socket. i just checked the various jumpers on the motherboard there are 9 pins for the jumpers and the jumpers i have 8 plugs that go into them they are L-Ret color = white, R- Ret = Red, Mic VDD = green, Ear L = white, Mic Data = yellow, ear Gnd = black, Mic VDD = Green now i need to know which ones go into which pin on the motherboard? lol don't ask much do i? thanks lisamarie01 (6731)
733272 2008-12-29 05:15:00 have been trying to google the front panel audio to find out where they go but no luck so far all the ones i have come across are different to mine, or missing some that are in my case. lisamarie01 (6731)
