532001 2007-03-11 20:59:00 Well done. (They said the same about the Emperor's new clothes.) R2x1 (4628)
532002 2007-03-11 21:40:00 What OS were the PCs running? Id be willing to be they'd be XP coz they're now selling them all so cheap so they can get Vista stock in-store ;) Chilling_Silence (9)
532003 2007-03-11 21:44:00 In the report it says people are asking for vista and all new pcs now have vista installed in them so obviously its vista thats the selling point. Hitech (9024)
532004 2007-03-11 21:49:00 Interesting. One wonders, however, WHY people are rushing in to buy vista. Ignorance I'd say because for the average user with perhaps 'home basic' theres little or no practical difference between vista and xp and indeed some quite serious disadvantages. drcspy (146)
532005 2007-03-11 22:39:00 In the report it says people are asking for vista and all new pcs now have vista installed in them so obviously its vista thats the selling point.Yeah but from who? Harvey Norman and Dick Smith. We know that only the sheep buy from stores like those. The figures are doubtful when they're not including the number of sales from proper PC stores and the people who're NOT asking for Vista. Greg (193)
532006 2007-03-11 23:51:00 I was in a well know PC store here in Auckland last weekend and while I was passing the laptop section that were mostly WinXP machines I heard some bunny wanting to buy a laptop say to the salesman when told that this laptop had WinXP Pro installed " Oh no. I only want to buy one with Vista. That's what everyone has these days"

I'd like to know how these laptops with 512meg of ram that previuosly had WinXP Pro on them sudenenly work with Vista seeing the over the top hardware requirements..

You mean Bill won't have to sell one of his large properties

Its like when a new car model comes out, sales usually go up cos people want the "latest and greatest" . It doesn't mean that people should buy a new car, they want the new model .

Some purchasers would have been waiting for Vista to come out which is why sales have gone up after Vista came out . Also Microsoft are good at marketing .

532008 2007-03-12 04:14:00 But the new model of the car surely would be the new car so you would be buying the latest new model anyway, cause when you buy most things new nine times out of ten they are the latest. Hitech (9024)
532009 2007-03-12 05:39:00 Of course soon you will not be able to buy XP even if you want to as Bill will stop "making" it.

I don't believe Harvey Norman know much about computers. They are just a mass marketer.
