531823 2007-03-11 04:00:00 Has anyone on this forum bought Vista in the last week or so ?

It appears to me from what I have read that no one wants it !

It may be the biggest flop in history (after the Edsel) well at least you could drive an Edsell.

531825 2007-03-11 04:52:00 Well, with one being born every minute, the odds are that M$ will continue to rake in the shekels. That appears to be their target market. R2x1 (4628)
531826 2007-03-11 04:58:00 Most of this forum can see through M$ marketing and hype. They probably don't NEED a new operating system, especially one where there is no guarantee that existing peripherals will work. If it ain't broke don't fix it. However if one was buying a new pc, Vista certainly would be a consideration.

Actually I get Vista next week... watch this space :o

531827 2007-03-11 05:44:00 In my younger days, (Shurrup !!!!), there was a saying about the latest new model of a car . "Buy it in it's second year when all the faults have been fixed" Something like that anyway .

I suppose that would apply to anything . Even Vista . XP has been around for some time, & faults are still being found & fixed . In truth tho, the faults themselves, mainly, are no problem . The problem is down to those "P Words" who exploit them .

It is unlikely that I would buy Vista, as XP is more than enough for an old codger like me . PJ The Unrepentant .

531828 2007-03-11 08:41:00 I've decided to take the plunge this week - it's under $200 for Home Premium and whilst I'd prefer Ultimate, it is certainly a bit pricey. Twelvevolts (5457)
531829 2007-03-11 09:52:00 I gotta say about a month ago there was a miriad of people saying on here that they arent going to buy vista cause things wouldnt work and thes uac is a pain in the ass etc etc.Now i have noticed on this site over tha last couple of weeks more and more people are buying vista so despite all the comments of people flatly refusing to use it the pressure is building and people are starting to use vista it wont be long before its bye bye xp.

Microsoft arent releasing any updates this month.

Things must have changed, Back in my day to be considered brave you would have to wrestle a mountain lion, climb an erupting volcano, Leave your teenage daughter in a room full of cops and a cask of wine, and shag Helen Clark.

Ok, The last one isn't true, No one could expect that, In fact the last person to mentally visualize it received instant and irreversible brain damage.

531831 2007-03-11 12:05:00 Not much point in upgrading to Vista Home Premium IMO... only things gained are DX10 (Sure, because we all play Crysis....) and the new theme, precious little else.

I can think of at least 10 things I could do with my PCs for under $200 that would be much more useful than buying a new OS ;)

... of course thats just me, I'd rather a new Graphics card, more HDD space, or more RAM to use with the OS Ive got. Each to their own :)

531832 2007-03-11 20:03:00 My husband reads and occaisonally offers his views on this forum.

On his behalf I wish to warn fellow readers the health hazards that crop up when reading some of the posted stuff.

While enjoying his breakfast and skimming the posts he turned a nasty shade of red - then blue. I quickly realized he had choked on a piece of toast and rapidly applied the "heimlich" method of clearing food stuck in ones craw!!!

He is now resting (poor old bugger) and while coming in and out of conciousness, he muttered to me that Metla should be banned from the forum as it was his post he was reading when he choked, caused by a combination of mirth and horror, as he had come across a mention of shagging Helen Clark!!!

He muttered then that a grizzly bear would not have such a sharp mouth and would therefore be easier to handle.

Shame on you Metla
