531896 2007-03-11 03:57:00 Mortein, Raid, Black Flag, Pam and some other no frills brands ...

Are they really different or more less the same regardless of branding?

Does Fly spray kills flies more effectively than those Multi purpose spray?

531898 2007-03-11 06:07:00 I hate fly spray. I prefer flies to that awful stuff.

P.S. This is probably irrational. I've never done any research on it.

531899 2007-03-11 06:26:00 Present Fly Sprays are so ecologically friendly the flies thrive on them.

There is a product called “Ripcord” which still works. You mix it yourself but do follow the instructions. ;)

531901 2007-03-11 06:41:00 I use Raid "Fast Kill, Odourless, Hypoallergenic" around the house, it doesn't smell, and is not as objectionable as some.
(I go on the basis that if flies and spiders were meant to live in houses, god would have built houses for them :) )

However I also use pyrethrum as an all round insecticide, especially for wasps and white tailed spiders.

Pyrethrum is relatively innocuous as insecticides go, being made from chrysanthemums.

The synthetic form of pyrethrum is permathrin. White Tails hate it, it stops them in their tracks, slowing them down so they can be walloped :)

531902 2007-03-11 07:08:00 To kill flies, slap a handful of axle grease on them. Works every time. A squirt with spray paint works well too.
Don't try this at home due to some minor side effects like a thick ear from SWMBO.

531903 2007-03-11 07:18:00 This thread reminds me of something in the past.

A fully guaranteed fly killer which has 100% kill rate when used according to instructions. You pay only $20.00 including postage and GST.

You get two lumps of 4x2..... One labelled Block 1 and the other labelled Block 2. Length of lumps unknown but cut according to your wishes.

Instructions are very complete.

Place the fly on Block 1 and hit it with Block 2.

If you want to be incorrect (or just different) you could place the fly on Block 2 and hit it with Block 1 with similar results probably. But if you do this your gaurantee will be null and void.

Please note that the 4x2 is cut from a hardwood only available in Nigeria.:)

We use this as we export to Australia and flies are harder to kill there. Usually we supply 4x2 in three foot lengths in case you want to kill more than one fly at a time.

Sorry but I just had to say it.

531904 2007-03-11 07:42:00 Stick to a fly swat I say :)

There is always an appropriate tune for the occasion, Abe Lyman's California Ambassador Hotel Orchestra in 1930, Never Swat A Fly (www.redhotjazz.com)

For those old enough to remember, the lyrics include "never spray a nit with a can of Flit". Flit cans were hand operated spray guns, and were in use until at least into the 1950s, maybe 1960s.

Then again fly papers were very effective too. :)

531905 2007-03-11 07:44:00 Black flag blowfly strength. Results in 15 seconds.

For roaches and mega spiders, BV2.

It's a very powerful and VERY smelly spray which we used in our food business (80 yr old building) and that works in seconds against roaches.

Cant find it in supermarkets so you will need to go to Mitre10, Hammer Hardware or Bunnings for it. Not cheap either.

Just out of curiosity, what is being eliminated?
