733675 2009-01-06 07:31:00 There is another log in the system folder

"TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at go.microsoft.com
Event ID: 4226
File Name: xpsp2res.dll

TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts.

Malicious programs often attempt to reach uninfected computers by opening simultaneous connections to random IP addresses. Most of these random addresses result in a failed connection, so a burst of such activity on a computer is a signal that it may have been infected by a malicious program.

733676 2009-01-06 08:49:00 Thats a normal error, MS did it to reduce the chance of getting infected with a worm or something

If you want to change it you can use this (www.lvllord.de)

It lets u change the amount, and makes a backup of the original tcpip.sys file

It might be a normal error but your don't normally see it unless you use P2P or similar.
You can "hack" the configuration of TCP/IP, at your own risk. Consider though whether that is worth doing.

733678 2009-01-06 09:09:00 As mentioned run sfc /scannow - the faulting file mentioned is part of SP2

xpsp2res.dll is a process associated with Microsoft Windows Operating System from Microsoft Corporation. xpsp2res.dll is a process which is registered as Service Pack 2 Messages.

733679 2009-01-06 09:11:00 Wrong you dont have to use P2P to see it. I dont use P2P and I've had that error

It was SP2 that lowered the amount of ports. SP1 isnt affected, which is probably why some people never update from SP1

I'm using that file from that site I posted, it makes a backup of the file, so if you do have probs, just delete the file youre using and rename the original file

What strange things you doing there Speedy to get that error.
MS have those limits in place for a reason and they never normally give a problem.

733681 2009-01-06 09:19:00 The main reason MS put it in place, was because of things like P2P.

To reduce the chance of you getting infected with worms etc

Obviously it didnt work, because people still use P2P programs (because they have no idea what theyre getting, they run it and bang ), they're infected

Some of these people who use P2P programs, I dont know if theyre stupid or what, BUT if an AV program is installed, I bet none of them scan what they get, before they run it.

Which is why they get infected in the first place.

You may as well get rid of the AV program, turn the firewall off, and wait to get hacked

733682 2009-01-06 11:55:00 The entry sfc/scannow is not correct.

The error is that you missed the space between "sfc" and "/scannow".

Copy and paste this and it will work. sfc /scannow

Sorry I missed Gary67s post on the same.

733683 2009-01-07 06:55:00 OK - that command requires SP2 disk in the CD.

I don't have it on CD and I don't have a burner to burn it to CD.

Should I just try downloading SP2 again?
