| 531682 | 2007-03-10 19:06:00 | I have a rather old, but none the less faithful, Sharp SF-7850 Photocopier that has started playing up at initial switch-on. It comes up with a flashing L8 alarm and refuses to go through its normal start-up routine. However, if I leave it on and flashing for 10-15 minutes, then turn it off and straight back on, away it goes and works perfectly. Once working, if I then turn it off and back on in 10 seconds it restarts no problem. Ive Googled the problem but can only find the suggestion L8 is a Main Board Alarm but nothing more enlightening. The copier gets very little use and can sit idle for weeks at a time. I get the impression it is a heat or dampness sensor problem or flat CMOS battery or the like. Dont know whether they even have a CMOS battery, or how they hold the settings for start up, Anyone any ideas? |

I suspect that many manufacturers will give an error indication and stop operation if it happens. (One copier I used had a switch which controlled a drum heater to fix the problem). I doubt if there are any "settings" to remember, though that is a possibility. |

(I do have a Copier Test Page). ;) However, before it fires up there is quite a bit of warm air coming out the vent. It certainly seems like a sensor problem but without a workshop manual or circuit diagram it gets a bit tricky. I was sort of hoping there was a Sharp Serviceman out there that would come back with good old yea its quite a common fault and you do this to fix it :D |
