531277 2007-03-08 11:27:00 I finally got my copy of PC World tonight.
Among all the tests that were done with varying hardware setups and performance losses or gains with vista, there were some interesting results. One I was unable to locate was a test applying the upgraded hardware to an XP or W2K install.
It could have spoiled sales for little willy though, so maybe it is better to leave peoples delusions undisturbed.
If a test of a new fuel stated that you would really notice an improvement once you got a new more powerful car, people might snort with derision.
I guess the emperors tailor had a similar problem, but marketing can make suckers out of an awful lot of us.
Maybe I'm too cynical, I would hate to lose my consumers badge. Fortunately, little willy doesn't give a toss what I say about his OS, he knows he will get my money sooner or later. :(

531278 2007-03-09 04:01:00 Yeah. I had a laugh at the result of the test regarding using a USB stick as RAM expansion showed no noticeable improvement; and because of this PCWorld are consulting with Microsoft to devise a test to show this technology in it's best light.

Huh. :horrified

It is however possible to add performance to your car without opening the motor, much as you would when adding RAM, and PC's arent as expensive as cars. What if that gas was kinder on the motor, what if you got better fuel economy.

But if you wanted economy, and more motor friendly, you might just get brand -X that is much more economical to purchase, easier to install, and comes with automatic anti-theft protection.
Of course, if it doesn't have the advertising muscle of your favourite fuel and that is your main consideration, could I interest you in a harbour bridge at a most reasonable price?
;) :D
