| 531069 | 2007-03-07 20:37:00 | If you substitute inept for corrupt there may be a shade more relevance. ;)I agree. None of those departments are "corrupt" though some may be inefficient and others inept from time to time. Corruption generally implies the taking of bribes etc, though it can mean depravity or rottenness. I fancy this is a thinly disguised attempt to work over the Police Force because a few officers couldn't keep their truncheon in their pants (or resist Police groupies in some cases). The trouble is, nobody writes about the vast majority of work by government departments that happens on time and as planned. It just doesn't make news (or Forum fodder). | 531071 | 2007-03-07 22:01:00 | Back in '95 I was the victim of a home invasion, actual it was the month before that law came into effect so technically it was only aggravated assault. The "perps" were arrested, the police arrived before he attackers had even left the property. The courts found the guilty and fined the $400.00 each and $400. each reparation that was to come to me. To this day I have only received half of that but have been harassed by the Dept. of Justice for "non Payment" of parking/traffic fines going back as far as 16 years which have either been paid or successfully defended years previously. On the last occasion the woman I called to sort out their mess kept on asking questions "so as to establish my identity" like "have you ever received a benefit" , "have you traveled abroad recently" and so on. When I eventually said I had had enough of these questions she told me that if I did not answer her questions she would hang up. So I hung up and called back until I spoke to someone who merely asked for my date of birth and my current address. I was informed that the reason I had not received my reparation was that "we can't find the offender" So it seems that if you are a responsible citizen you will be chased up for any misdemeanour and used to collect data for their records but if your a rat-bag offender you will be left alone. |

| 531076 | 2007-03-08 02:21:00 | Yes people have to understand the difference between Corrupt and Inept. So you need to make that clear or have 2 polls. And Immigration would have to be one of the most corrupt (I am convinced that lots of officers in that dept take bribes) so why arn't they in the poll ? Regards Digby |
