734638 2009-01-03 02:37:00 Well a similar issue happened a little while back with my Boss, his Vista machine played up... except he could still use IE but not other browsers.

For me, the issue is that no http traffic works at all, except https...

Basically, Chrome & IE have died on this machine and dont wanna know about anything. It was right in the middle of me browsing too ... Opened 5 tabs at once, the first loaded but the rest didnt. Noticed MSN was still online and I was able to talk. Pings to 210.48.100.45 worked, as did pinging pressf1.co.nz
I flushed the DNS and tried again, names still resolve no worries but I couldnt do web traffic

Rebooted the router, flushed DNS, then tried pinging pressf1.co.nz and it works no worries, but I cant browse it. https traffic to ASB Bank etc works perfectly fine (Great, all I can do online now is see that I have no money...)

MSN works no problems still, and http traffic works from my iPhone and my Linux box which Im on now.

No recently installed apps, have Avasst Anti-Virus .. it was in the middle of me opening a few tabs that it happened coz I opened up MyPrepaid.co.nz, bebo, pressf1 & 2x gmails. MyPrepaid loaded fine, but the rest didnt load at all.

Any ideas? :crying

Thanks

Chill.

734639 2009-01-03 03:08:00 Have you tried using a Linux live cd or trying to access the net from inside a Windows VM? jwil1 (65)

734643 2009-01-03 04:00:00 What firewall? pctek (84)
734644 2009-01-03 04:02:00 I had a similar trying to open and log into 2 separate gmail tabs/accounts at the same time. I restarted the comp and then had to wait about half hour for gmail or whoever to do something I think, don't really know but I know it took half hour to get back online gary67 (56)
734645 2009-01-03 05:43:00 No firewall, no windows updates, no firefox (but Chrome fails as well as XP), no ZA, and another machine works fine on the LAN (Vista laptop of the families). Linux also works fine, as-does my iPhone using the WiFi here.

Will try WinSock fix when I return home tonight :)

734646 2009-01-03 05:50:00 Maybe a throttling issue due because of too many open/incomplete connections?

netstat -a
To see what's currently going on.

Also check the event log for tcp throttling warnings, and maybe your routers logs too.

734647 2009-01-03 06:55:00 Sure sounds like a firewall problem.
Have you got the windows firewall on or off
I suppose you have done a complete shutdown of the computer rather than just a restart.

Anything useful at this link.
