734001 2009-01-01 21:12:00 Hello there and Happy New Year to you all.

I was an old member however, I had to register due to some changes occurred in the meantime.

I have an issues with downloading softwares. In the window a NOTEPAD pic appears and after download, the option I have is OPEN and no RUN. This takes me to a page full of NOTEPAD stuff. Is there a way out of this. Please advise. Thanks.

734002 2009-01-01 21:36:00 Hi.

What type of file are you trying to download? .zip - .exe - .msi?

It sounds like your filetype setting is wrong and is opening in notepad rather than the correct program.

734003 2009-01-01 22:19:00 I'm guessing it must be either .zip or .msi. If .exe is at fault, then I don't think the poster can start Windows properly in the first place as crucial files such as explorer.exe end with .exe extension.

I would suggest the poster to (re)install Window installer ->www.microsoft.com and see if the installation proceeds.

Cheers :)

Well then in that case I would download and install 7-zip. (http://www.7-zip.org/)

Once you have installed it, run it and go to the Tools - Options and click the Select All button then try open your downloaded file again.

734006 2009-01-02 00:46:00 Have you got WinZip or WinRAR installed on your computer? If yes, go to My Computer > Tools > Folder Options. In the new window, click "File Types" and scroll down to the very end. Click to highlight ZIP and click "Change". Select WinZip or WinRAR from the list or browse for the program.

Cheers :)

[Edit] You beat me CYaBro :p
