734021 2009-01-01 21:11:00 Hi Team,

My Toshiba Tecra M5 laptop wouldn't boot so booted into safe mode and started to uninstall programs one at a time until it booted normally. Now it wasnt until i uninstalled Avast that i could boot into windows normally. I reinstalled Avast and the same thing happened. It would hang on the welcome screen. Okay, uninstalled Avast and ran CCleaner and tried to reinstall, same thing, just hangs at the welcome screen.

Checked the event viewer and it showed the following:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7026

I've now installed AVG Free and now and then it says certain processes call sens.dll which is corrupted. Wondering if this a false positive as the properties shows created/modified as 2004 and the version is as for xp sp 2.

any ideas what those drivers in the log report are?? Everything seems to go pretty well right now apart from the AVG picking up sens.dll

Thanks in advance for the help!

Cheers

734025 2009-01-01 21:59:00 nice site wainuitech.

Report shows all 39 scanners did not detect a virus which seems to confirm that my AVG brings it up as a false positive. Even AVG is in the scan list but doesnt pick up a virus.

734026 2009-01-01 22:07:00 Thats a start  Click on start/Run type in sfc /scannow <Press Enter> windows will scan your system for damaged or missing files , it may ask for windows XP CD if it needs it, so have it handy.

Then after a reboot, retry Avast again, if you want.
