| 534122 | 2007-03-18 18:38:00 | It’s official: the first hybrid hard drive, optimized for Vista, featuring flash memory and traditional magnetic storage has been unveiled by Samsung, shipped to ‘select OEM customers’ and will soon be available to buy from store shelves. (www.itwire.com.au) The prices quoted though, are not typical for the conventional hdds that we can buy here in the US. I just bought 8 new Western Digitals with 250 GB/Go, 8MB cache, 7200 RPM EIDE for $49.99 each. These will go in my server rack. Prices are really dropping for hdds right now..is there something in the wind? |

| 534123 | 2007-03-18 23:48:00 | Now you tell me :( I didn't need that much capacity, and I didn't need that much speed, or even a great deal of cache (Less is more for this job, except reliability). I surely could have used that price though. Is this a bad time for anyone holding large stocks of HDD's or what? |
