533725 2007-03-17 01:57:00 Telstra are going to 'upgrade' me from my previous plan to a pdq plan, and charge me an extra $10 for the priviledge.

We started on dial up with Paradise and upgraded to dsl, with Telecom supplying the dsl and Paradise supplying isp services. Then Telecom decided our isp had to supply dsl services. Our choice was to change dsl provider, not change email address, so went with Telstra/Paradise. We had to change our home phone line to Telstra to get a $10 saving.

With the new pdq plans they require a $10 monthly TOLL spend through Telstra. Phone rental doesn't count. We make almost no toll calls. Our existing plan costs $48.95 a month, the new pdq $47.95 + the balance of $10 tolls we don't spend. Their only concession was 1 month free.

Now the question is who do we go to? Time for some research. Mrs Wotz is keen to go back to Telecom. Not sure I want to go to Xtra.

533727 2007-03-17 03:28:00 I am/was with Clear dialup.
When I gone to BB I chose Xnet.
I still have my Clear dialup on a usage based ($2.50/hr) but I don't use it, with Xnet I can still download my email and I am not subscribing to Mail+ ($5/mo). So its free.

I like Xnet:
No contracts
No phone switches
No min toll calls
Cheaper

The only way I would go with Telstra is with Telstra Cable Internet (not ADSL).

533728 2007-03-17 20:01:00 Pine-o - xnet looks good. How long does it take to get changed over - my next billing cycle with Telstra starts in 5 days. wotz (335)
533729 2007-03-17 21:34:00 Should not be that long. A couple of business days depending on what day you select. bob_doe_nz (92)
533730 2007-03-18 09:59:00 Xnet is pretty good, I choose it for two reasons, no telephone bill messing around, and good reports from gamers about low ping times. ALways goods speeds, even at the busy parts of the evening.

P.S. Great ISP map here,
