533432 2007-03-16 02:36:00 I was just reading an article about biometrics in the latest NZ Standards magazine, and it got me wondering - are there any affordable, practical biometric tools for the home PC? The most obvious application I can think of would be replacing the need to type in passwords - i.e. login to windows, access to websites, email, etc. Is there a commercially available product that integrates with the OS to provide, say, fingerprint recognition for all password protected actions? 533433 2007-03-16 03:39:00 There is a microsoft usb fingerprint scanner, and many laptops(mostly toshiba and hp) that are now coming with built in fingerprint scanning ability. from what i have seen though, they are relatively easy to fool and so not generally recommended for overly sensitive passwords lagbort (5041)

533438 2007-03-19 03:30:00 And you can run them on biofuel - so sustainability shouldn't be a problem. Erayd (23)

Self replicating.

This is a very dangerous slippery slope towards total control by Big Brother, 1984, The New Right, The New World Order, and the Corporate world, where everyone is in a biometric data base, and you even have to have hand scans to buy at a supermarket :)
