533229 2007-03-15 09:26:00 Dear all. A friend of mine has a problem with his cell phone reception quality (Vodafone). He says that when he brings his cell phone into his room, the reception goes down almost immediately to the extent that he cannot receive text messages; he is not living at somewhere rural. Having said so, he also says that he has a number of other electronic devices in his room. I am just wondering what possible devices could interfere with the frequency that his cell phone operates, and therefore creating a destructive interference of waves? I don't think the walls have lead pieces in them, by the way.

Cheers :)

533230 2007-03-15 09:39:00 Dear all. A friend of mine has a problem with his cell phone reception quality (Vodafone). He says that when he brings his cell phone into his room, the reception goes down almost immediately to the extent that he cannot receive text messages; Best thing he can do is temporarily turn off all other devices and see if that helps, but in reality it is probably just a dead spot. Cellular transmission field strengths can vary significantly over just a metre or two.

If the house is relatively modern and has foil backed gib board for moisture barriers that can cause problems, as can metal rooves, metal cladding etc.

Sometimes it's just localised bad reception.

533232 2007-03-15 09:40:00 Check if its just his room. When I had a RAZR V3 I had zero bar signal inside buildings but it was fine outside.

In the end it cost too much to fix so flicked it on trademe :(
(oh and it had a broken hinge as well so + $50 :P)
