534015 2007-03-20 10:52:00 Sounds fair enough. If you do go with the Treo, they seem to need a full charge to be any good. I have one which I gave up using as a cellphone, because my wife was always saying the signal was poor when I phoned her from out of town. I found it related to the state of charge. My current cellphone works fine even when only on half charge but the Treo was c@#p when it was like that.

Still, it works well as a PDA, SMS device, and email composer! And for checking emails as well provided you set it to only download headers, and only download those ones that are urgent. I used to find that my travels always seemed to coincide with the kids sending me photos etc that played havoc with the Vodafone bill until I set it to headers.

Have a great trip.

Amen to that. :D My Treo 600 came as a Telecom promotion and I rejected it after finding it was pathetic for reception. The local Telecom guys grinned wryly and said these devices are aimed at the millions of people who never leave big cities.

Best phone I ever owned was a Kyocera and I still think of reactivating it. My Nokia is easier to text with and can take photos but the Kyocera beat everything hands down for range and battery life.

534017 2007-03-21 02:12:00 As you "free telecom" Treo 600 will be a CDMA Winston, don't even think about using it for travel...

Only GSM is likely to be available in most places.

534018 2007-03-21 02:19:00 Ah..............good point. So I can't hook it up to GSM? It wouldn't matter if I decided to only use it as a PDA. Winston001 (3612)
