534165 2007-03-19 04:58:00 Yep, the forum often drags its heels fairly regularly. I get the same as MAC_H8ER - ad.doubleclick.net is normally the culprit. FoxyMX (5)
534166 2007-03-19 05:06:00 Put ad.doubleclick.net in your hosts file - upload a blank page somewhere else and enter its IP as the entry. I redirected apple.co.nz to microsoft.co.nz using this technique. ;) pcuser42 (130)
534167 2007-03-19 05:19:00 Put ad.doubleclick.net in your hosts file -

Already is and has been for a long time. Makes no difference.

534168 2007-03-19 08:38:00 Put ad.doubleclick.net in your hosts file - upload a blank page somewhere else and enter its IP as the entry. That doesn't make sense. You mean browse to a blank page somewhere right? How many of those lying around, unless you do in fact mean uploading a blank file to your own server. Greg (193)
534169 2007-03-19 08:46:00 As an experiment can someone who gets this "lag" install Proximiton, let it block all the fluff content and then report back if the forum is now snappy?

Remember that promitron is tiny, makes no registry entires, doesn't need installing in the traditional windows fashion and alters nothing on your PC, plus its default setup should be more then enough for the test.

Anyone?

Foxy, Im looking directly at you.

Now Im winking

534170 2007-03-19 09:25:00 No problem here on dialup, loads in seconds with Mac Safari browser.
I don't block anything, I let the page display as it was designed to.
I think some of you people are so paranoid about blocking everything you can by using all sorts of programs and other tricks that you are actually causing complications on your computer and slowing it down and probably causing some web sites to not load at all.

Mind you I don't have the added complication of running firewalls, antivirus, and spyware programs and the like which can also cause compatibility problems with blocking programs that might be installed.

534171 2007-03-19 09:28:00 Thanks for the assumptions.

534172 2007-03-19 09:37:00 Your spelling has improved remarkably Metla, well done.
You must be doing more reading instead of playing with car racing games.
Safari (3993)
534173 2007-03-19 09:41:00 Another assumption, Firefox has a spell checker.:D

Perhaps you could venture over to the Trademe forum and offer to do "readings" for people like the other flakes.

534174 2007-03-19 10:00:00 I was going to say something short and sharp... but it's just not worth it for idiots.

Go Metla
