| 533152 | 2007-03-16 02:12:00 | Win 2k and Mepis are good enough for me. BTW, I checked "Heaps of problems", because it was the closest description to the main issues I've encountered, i.e. not so much with the software, but the fanboys ;) |

| 533153 | 2007-03-16 07:49:00 | Surprisingly enough....... I had absolutely no problems... im back up and running with all my apps, in about 3 hours. Vista install took all of 20 minutes. (this is with vista ultimate) Only hardware vista didnt like was my Yamaha XG Sound card, but that was junk anyway. |

| 533155 | 2007-03-16 19:28:00 | If someone offered me a copy of even Home Basic, I'd take it. Home Basic would be upgraded though via Anytime Upgrade. | pcuser42 (130) | ||

Home basic?? take it away!!!!! i tried it when i was fiddling around (dont put in a key, and you can try whatever version you want) Home basic is a downgrade from Xp pro... For me it's either ultimate (which im using) or nothing. Its the only one with the media features, AND the business features (domain logons..) |

| 533157 | 2007-03-18 09:46:00 | All these people that are happy to stay with XP...??????? I wonder if these were the same people that were happy to stay with their outdated Windows 98 I remember there were a lot of people who found it hard to make the move from win 98 to XP. I for one intend on upgrading to Vista one day in the near future. And I'm sure that all you nah sayers :groan: will eventually make the move to Vista too  |

Give it 12 months a service pack a few more game drivers, mainstream 3rd party applications, some major improvements to OneCare and Vista might actually start offering more value than XP which basically has all of the above (except OneCare which is not much use see link to article below) and there for is currently not in need of replacement. Microsoft has said that its OneCare security suite has "a problem" with the underlying antivirus code, and admitted that security is just "a little part of Microsoft". news.zdnet.co.uk |
