532922 2007-03-14 11:51:00 I liked it too. Twice. To keep it forever fresh in my mind, it is blocked. I don't wish to watch more than my share, that would be greedy. ;) R2x1 (4628)
532923 2007-03-14 13:26:00 I block ads, but when I've seen what's on PressF1 they're pretty tame compared to the crud you see on the major news websites (except BBC). Greg (193)
532924 2007-03-14 14:04:00 Doesn't bother me much at all. As have said elsewhere I really like the "peel me"

532925 2007-03-14 16:56:00 I like the pretty red banner at the top of the page, and the posts and such below it . . . but I really don't see any more than that .

I guess youse guys have a "local-only" advertisement policy and I never see any ads here . . . after all . . . I don't regularly shop in NZ and the ads would be wasted on me anyway .

Shopping for me below the equator is pricey to say the least what with airfare and rental cars and shots for the local diseases etc . . . know what I mean?

This "peel me" thing is intriguing though . . . what is the extent of it?

Is it X rated?

Who or whom can we actually "peel" with it?

Can we peel anyone, or are the mods exempt?

Who or whom is the "me" in "peel me" anyway?

Are youse guys keeping something away from us Yanks (the noun again, not the verb)?

532926 2007-03-14 18:53:00 Thanks to Metla I use Proxomitron to block those annoying flashing adverts. If I post and use advanced features, Proxomitron is bypassed and I have to put up with the adverts. Not counting 'Peel Me', only twice have I bothered to click on the advert to find out more. Whats next?, Popups?, flash video, Keyword hyperlinks? No reason why not, The whoring is running full steam ahead. This is without doubt the most saturated site I visit.QUOTE

Agree 100%.
If I found this site by error I wouldn't stay long enough to read the first line.

I suppose it's the penalty we pay for having so many active members.:annoyed:

Proxomitron allows you to remove and replace ad banners, Java scripts, off-site images, Flash animations, background images, frames and many other page elements. You can also add, delete or change HTTP headers. All the Proxomitron filters can be customized and edited to your needs.

this might not be the real problem . . . just take a look at the 0 (zero) posted and one (1) posted people who registered, get the answer they want and don't come back again .

I know this was bandied about a month or so ago, but there are a lot of dead screen names and people who no longer exist in the membership role . Some are probably even buried by now .

Perhaps, some bean counter saw the long list and decided: "Hey . . . we've got a vast, untapped customer base here . . . let's spam them to hell!" . :xmouth:

532931 2007-03-14 19:47:00 I must point out that PressF1 and indeed all our websites are part of a commercial entity, one that employs not one or two guys in their mother's garage, but a decent number of peope at desks producing several magazines/newspapers and associated websites .

In short, a publishing company . And a company charged with making a profit for its shareholders .

I think we are pretty conservative on the ad front across our sites as a whole but you must expect advertising to be a part of the site .
