| 734249 | 2009-01-02 01:46:00 | You mean a virus scan? | mark1978 (13845) | ||
| 734250 | 2009-01-02 02:02:00 | Gary means a System File Scan - different to a virus scan. If you can start windows - Have a look in the start menu - Click start/Run type in msconfig open the Startup tab, locate the entry that points to svhost.exe - untick it, reboot. There are several known spyware/viruses / Rootkits that masquerade as svhost.exe . Get Hijackthis (www.trendsecure.com) do a scan/save a log and post the complete log file back here. Also do a full virus/ spyware scan - If you dont have any scanners, get Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D and Spyware terminator from my sig - do FULL system scans. May pay while your at it to do a rootkit scan (seems its rootkits this week - Had 2 people phone with the same problem today :nerd: - so much for the holiday ) download Sophos Antirootkit - link in post 4 Here (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) Edited: is this Vista OR XP - if its Vista I'm not to sure if it works or not - I'll test it and see. |

| 734253 | 2009-01-02 02:44:00 | You got spyware - every thing in the O15 - Trusted Zone: *. shouldn't be there. Also your IE is way out of date, as well as the service packs - I see its XP - get that Rootkit removal tool as well and do a full scan. Get Trojan Remover (http://www.simplysup.com/) - do a full scan, up top under Utilities - select/ Run through every thing. Download,malwarebytes, Spyware terminator, Super Antispyware from my sig, install and do full scans. Then repost the HJ log. Edited: Use Ccleaner first if you haven't already |
