734044 2009-01-01 21:40:00 When I installed WinXP (SP3 slipstreamed into my install CD) on my newish computer (Been without Internet for about a month, so haven't been able to get onto pressf1 much to ask for help) it detected my computer as a MPS Multiprocessor PC instead of an ACPI Multiprocessor PC.

From a quick google search, I can see that I will have to reinstall (possibly a repair install?), but when I reinstall, how do I make it see that my computer is ACPI compliant?

My motherboard uses an AMD 780G chipset.

734045 2009-01-01 21:51:00 You can try doing a reinstall with the original XP CD, without SP3 and see if it works correctly - then if it does, then install SP3.

There maybe something in the slipstreaming that didn't quite go right.

Edited: according to This site (www.sharkyextreme.com) between the first two pictures it says the chipset is
ACPI specification 3.0 power management, and HyperFlash

734046 2009-01-01 23:15:00 I had a similar problem, it will only recognize this if you re-install with the original XP CD.

Try to go to the website of your motherboard and install al the latest drivers..!!

734047 2009-01-02 06:54:00 ACPI has to be enabled before install....if not, dont enable after install as that is different HAL drivers etc... SolMiester (139)
734048 2009-01-03 00:22:00 I reinstalled with the original SP2 CD & that fixed this problem. The odd thing is my SP3 CD worked fine on my friend's computer (I gave him all my old parts).

Now I just need to get HDMI working & I'll be set
