733960 2009-01-01 05:12:00 Hey all,

I've come into some money and my old computer is dying (Dell Inspiron 9300) and not worth an upgrade. I'd like to go with a desktop system this time and wondering if you guys could recommend some places.

I'm a heavy gamer (World of Warcraft mainly) and run Fedora 9 as my OS, so looking for something a lil souped up.

Appreciate the help.

733962 2009-01-01 05:47:00 WOW can be run happily on a medium-low spec laptop, so you won't need too much in the way of power if that's all you want.

What other games do you play? And what's your budget? Would you be happy building one yourself? Or would you rather have the reassurance of a store bought one?

733963 2009-01-01 05:48:00 Would you want a system already built (probably cost more, and probably full of crap )

Or would / could you buy the parts and put it together yourself?

733968 2009-01-01 07:36:00 I don't have a set budget in mind, but I'm not 100% confident in putting one together on my own either. I don't want to buy a package though unless there is room to customise it etc - can you even buy a computer without Windows on it these days?

The only other games I play are Second Life occasionally and popcap dinky games.

My previous machine has 2Ghz processor, 2gig ram, nvidia card etc from 2005 so a step up from that would be nice.

As I said it was purely my opinion. I agree computer store is also great but I feel PlayTech are better when it comes to custom built high end gaming rigs.
