734808 2009-01-03 23:06:00 Hi Everyone

I'm trying to choose a OS to buy at the shops and I'm hoping that you could help me out? I think I posted a poll with this thread.

Thanks

734809 2009-01-03 23:07:00 Vista or Windows 7.... not XP (unless your hardware can't support it)

What spec is your PC?

Looking at your poll - DO NOT GET Vista Home basic. It doesn't have the Aero effects and looks like crap IMO. Get Home Premium instead.

Also, don't go to retail stores for it. Best to go online and buy OEM software - much, much cheaper :)

Check out ascent.co.nz vs www.dse.co.nz

734810 2009-01-03 23:14:00 Depends what you want to do. Nothing wrong with XP.

Even tho its old, so what, its stable / reliable

It also depends on how old your system is (if its not new). Older systems probably wouldnt handle vista or V7

And probably wouldnt have drivers either

734812 2009-01-03 23:30:00 Windows xp sp3 ROCKS!! i use it. more for its performance over vista. but its also really stable and isnt a system hog with thousands of glitches.

Im using home edition so im voting for that!

P.S brought my xp home edition sp3 from playtech.co.nz for 166$ incl gst and postage

734813 2009-01-03 23:39:00 although I have XP home I voted for pro as my wife has it and it has some extra features that I wish I had on mine. I'm not ready to make the change as don't want to upgrade my hardware yet gary67 (56)

Without knowing what PC its going on, what its specs are and what you intend to use it for its a meaningless question .

734816 2009-01-04 03:42:00 I prefer XP Pro, as stated before, stable and reliable.

Vista... I guess it's not a bad OS, but in comparison to XP's reliability and stability it lacks enough reason to choose it over XP... in my opinion.

734817 2009-01-04 06:23:00 What hardware are you going to run and what software are you going to use? That's like asking what car one would prefer without knowing a budget or intended purpose. beeswax34 (63)
