535441 2007-03-24 04:06:00 Having selected a tool and used it to perform some function, how the heck do I de-select it ? I have been using the magnetic lasso tool and when I go back to the picture again the blasted lasso tool is stil active. I have searched the help files and there are hundreds of items on how to select and use the tools but nothing about de-selecting them. heaton (3697)
535442 2007-03-24 04:33:00 Just left click the cursor on the icon/button for the tool you want to use... like the zoom (eye glass) or select (arrow) tool. Shortcircuit (1666)

I know how to SELECT the tool I want to use, BUT...
How do I UNSELECT or DE_SELECT it ?

535444 2007-03-24 04:45:00 The only way to 'deselect' a tool is by selecting a different one... once you've finished using the lasso mask tool it's easiest to select the 'zoom' tool or 'arrow' tool as they are the most used. Shortcircuit (1666)

535446 2007-03-25 02:11:00 The pen tool ( when clear cutting) is much better and more accurate than the magnetic lasso tool once you get used to how it works. It is also the industry standard for clear cutting images in Photoshop. Although I use Photoshop 7 as opposed to Photoshop elements, I would assume that the tools work the same. Each tool is/should be assigned a key board short cut (quick key) just hold your mouse over the tool icon on the tools pallet to see what the key is, then when you want to select or deselect a tool you just select the relevant key on your keyboard. Makes for much faster operation when you get to know the keys. winmacguy (3367)
