535394 2007-03-24 02:27:00 What is draw back with importing a cordless drill from USA.
I know they have different voltage, can this be overcome?

Thank you for info.

535395 2007-03-24 02:53:00 Cost? What is so special about a drill from the US? The charger will be 110v, so you would need an auto transformer, or one of those small switched mode voltage converters.

Edit: I bought a $9 one from Supercheap auto :) it has a real chuck, ie. a chuck with a key. It has done a lot of work and is going fine.

I wouldn't have suggested getting one from US if these were available here .

See if you can get one of these for $9 .

535397 2007-03-24 03:30:00 Why import one? Most brands can be bought here from the appropriate importers.

As for $9 you get what you pay for. Fine if its to used rarely, but husband is sticking to his DeWalt.

535398 2007-03-24 03:33:00 Nice drill.

And he has already said why hes looking overseas.

535399 2007-03-24 03:35:00 That particular one, as Cic says, appears only to be available by importing from the US.

I have 3 cordless drills, the $9 one is the best.

My Hitachi has a battery that fits inside the handle, it is kaput. I can buy 6 el cheapo cordless drills for the price of one Hitachi battery.

I have to disagree,more like 9 mins.Be fair.

Question.....
So if I bring that in,what is approx cost of kit required to operate here?

535402 2007-03-24 06:32:00 A bit hard to visualise it as a drill, but a 230 to 110 transformer could be obtained for the cost of freight from me to you. Take your pick between 100W or 0.5KVA - either is a tad lumpy and heavy for the postie though. R2x1 (4628)
