535230 2007-03-23 09:07:00 Thanks, found its little dialler creator. A whole 670k file of the bloated 140mb CD.

And of course it happily installed on his Win98 First Edition PC.

And of course the first speed test got 195kbps.
So to allow for traffic and so on got him to do another later.
Oooh, the excitement - 121kbps.

Like I said. Woosh sucks.

Oh the helpdesk absolutely insist he can't install it on Win98 1st ed.

535231 2007-03-23 22:07:00 yes woosh does tend to install a lot of crap - the big slow dialer e.c.t - i just install the drivers and create the connection myself - works perfectly - as for the slow speeds - YMMV (your mileage may vary) it is crap in places - other places you cant even get it - Wyndham can get woosh but only outside the big church and at a friends house across the road from it - everywhere else it is minimum signal or nothing at all - i haven't tested exact speeds down there all i know is it gets near 65% signal and connects and does not drop off e.c.t

i will admit we had some real trouble even connecting to woosh before we got the antenna put on the roof - but now its running fine

im also on your side about the tech support - most are paid to use up the desk for the day BUT every once in a while you get a guy who knows what hes doing ( a rare thing i know) :p and is very helpful

Yes how lame. Why should it? It shouldn't.

He told me he said to Woosh that he hoped their product was better than their service.

They sure won't get any recommendations from me.

And he's got the perfect setup to the west for Satellite.

535233 2007-03-24 02:22:00 yeah i don't know why it does it - one day we had a bunch of mates around and they all parked their cars in the paddock - in the way of the tower and antenna - we wondered why we are getting random disconnects e.c.t - so after running out of ideas we moved the cars round the other side of the house - the problem went away straight away it was really weird aye

but 99% of the time we don't have any problems - again YMMV :annoyed:

Funny.
I'm not an idiot. He already has the booster, he has no cars, tractors, cow sheds or trees in the view to the tower either.

I became a home user tech because I had this strange desire to help people enjoy their computing, not laugh at their problems.

He's been frustrated not being able to have usable internet for ages, part of which involves using some cattle software thing over the net, and this was his big idea to improve the situation. Woosh couldn't care less, which annoys me.

that sounds really disappointing to me - they have a service they should do whatever they can to keep the customers happy - not just shrug you off e . c . t
