2007-03-21 05:40:00 | For those of you who want an unbiased opinion/review of whether it is worth moving from XP to Vista, here is a side by side test from the UK's Channel 5 Gadget Show. "For our challenge we had decided to become news reporters - using our laptops as our only means of writing our stories, editing our video, accessing our photos and then uploading the whole lot to the internet. This would be a way of really checking out their usability and capabilities. With the success of Apple's latest MacBook, the laptop market has become the very frontline of the war between Mac and PC. So that's what we decided to concentrate on... Jason used his own MacBook - which he loves dearly. And I used my own Sony Vaio - it was brand new so I was only just getting used to it and its new Vista operating system. Have a read, then decide for yourselves. gadgetshow.five.tv Cheers.

2007-03-21 06:55:00 | Just about any Mac user would tell you that if you want to play games, get a PC . For the record, I posted the article because it is the best unbiased "real world" review that I have seen of Vista so far. | winmacguy (3367) | |
2007-03-21 07:07:00 | this reminds me of a mac nut friend of mine that would not be quiet about them - so one day i snapped and asked him what games are out for mac since i only really use a PC to play games - he honestly thought about it and after a few minutes pondering it - he said "is photoshop considered a game??" i proceeded to literally laugh him out of the room :D he dosent talk about macs too much now around me - im stumped as to why

2007-03-21 07:14:00 | Well don't fall off your seat laughing too hard, here is a Mac gaming site. www.macgamestore.com Judging by the comments posted so far, nobody is impressed with any part of Vista despite the relatively neutral review.:D

2007-03-21 10:01:00 | gaming on vista seems to only seems to be a problem if you have a 8800 Series Nvidia card - i see NO difference playing games in vista or XP with my 7900GT and most of the complaints ive seen have been some guy getting 100FPS in XP and 80FPS in vista - whoop de fudging doo as if you can tell the bloody difference BTW: the only game i recognize on that agonizingly slow loading mac games site was age of empires III and some mahjong thingiemabob yeah man, im so biffing my PC and getting a mac to play mahjong :groan: they all look like games you would play on a cellphone or a palm

2007-03-21 13:11:00 | Each to their own. Exactly - and that's why I enjoyed the review, winmacguy. As someone who couldn't give a stuff about gaming on a laptop, but can certainly relate to the mechanisms involved in creating a TV item with one, I found it very interesting. As I'm the target-type reader for this kind of review, that's not surprising. What is surprising is how gamers feel obliged to keep pushing an anti-Mac barrow even in threads where it's totally irrelevant. It wasn't about gaming. It was about ease of use for working journalists.
