735328 2009-01-05 22:52:00 More reasons to dump McAfee. They have just auto renewed my sub "using payment information on file" without any authority to do so. For the past two years I have received advice that my sub was to expire (usually 3 months before the due date!) and I've chosen to renew. Recently I uninstalled it thinking I'd advise them when they sent the renewal notice. I thought it expired in Dec but they said Mar when I rang them some months ago querying the Telecom/McAfee offer. I've sent a very terse email and hopefully my bank will recover the money if they don't sort it out. bellbird (6169)
735329 2009-01-05 23:40:00 I used to use the AOL special edition of McAfee, it's almost the same as the paid for McAfee but free to download from AOL (you need to register a free AOL account first). It was good.

735330 2009-01-05 23:48:00 Someones PC I fixed about a week ago was using Mcafee something

Even tho there was stuff all ram in it (224 or something mb I think), I dont think Mcafee's made it any better.

No matter what I tried to do, the bloody thing wouldnt update. But it did slow it down a bit

In the end I uninstalled it and installed Avast, it was still slow (prob coz lack of ram), but it was a bit faster booting into XP (that was after I uninstalled the crap games / utils on the hdd), as well

735331 2009-01-08 20:31:00 Am using Nod32 and seems fine. However notice that when I start up the desktop, the little window showing ESET and Nod32 stays there a lot longer and it is frustrating waiting to get on and do stuff. :horrified

Have XP Home on the desktop.

x2, I have never used it but a friend had it for a year, seemed pretty decent.
