735254 2009-01-05 20:55:00 would anyone happen to know why my External Hardrive is so slow? LarsJohann (13010)
735255 2009-01-05 21:14:00 How powerful is your PC? Do you have USB 2.0 on your PC?

Is the external HDD very nearly full?

Are you trying to run programs off the drive?

Have you tried running chkdsk /r on the drive and defragging it?

Have you run a manufacturers diagnostic to make sure there are no bad clusters on the drive?

A little more info would have been useful. :)

735256 2009-01-05 21:33:00 I jsut bought the Drive a couple days ago. Is there anything i should do before using it or smthing? LarsJohann (13010)
735257 2009-01-05 21:44:00 What OS?
SP installed?
What model is your "EHD"
How was it formated?
How does it connect to your PC, USB or eSATA?
How do you know it is slow, what are you trying to do?

735260 2009-01-05 23:35:00 I'm trying to copy files from my computer to the drive. LarsJohann (13010)
735261 2009-01-05 23:46:00 What size are the files - and how long does it take to copy them. wainuitech (129)
735262 2009-01-06 00:19:00 For example, I try to copy a 3gb file to my EHD and it says 2hours. :badpc: LarsJohann (13010)
735263 2009-01-06 00:30:00 For example, I try to copy a 3gb file to my EHD and it says 2hours. :badpc: Does it actually take 2 hours though - many times I've copied large files, 20Gb of customers data- says it going to take 6 hours, come back in say 30 minutes after making a cuppa and drinking it and its already finished. wainuitech (129)
