735086 2009-01-04 23:20:00 Hi first off Merry Christmas and Happy new to all.

Can't believe I'm back at work already

Does anyone know of such a thing. (RCA to VGA or Svideo)
Reason being I want to connect my VCR video RCA out to a LCD monitor I have with a VGA input for the kitchen.

I understand that the RCA would be an anologue signal but I have a Svideo to RCA but can't find anything to adapt that to Vga input to plug into the monitor any ideas?

735087 2009-01-04 23:51:00 Dont know about VGA, but I know you can get SVideo to RCA (but you would have to plug it into something like a PCI tuner, if its got svideo / video in on it) and change it through the program, the tuner came with to svideo, to get the signal from the video

Then you could record whatever you're playing on the VCR, to the hdd, then burn it

Or you could get something like this which will give you TV and inputs/outputs (www.edencomputers.co.nz) for external devices, like VCR's

I think this is what the above is / has (www.leadtek.com)

735088 2009-01-05 01:19:00 Ah sorry to confuse, there is no computer involved

Basicaly I want a LCD TV in the kitchen but don't want to spend the money, but I do have an old 19"monitor with speakers when I upgraded my computer. I was thinking of running it off the vcr which would handle the video and the sound from the vcr tuner.
Now the sound is easy but the vcr has a rca out for the video and the monitor needs a vga input hence I would like to find something that would adapt the rca to vga of viseversa.

735090 2009-01-05 01:33:00 Why yes it would!!!

cheers I couldn't find that anywhere.

Was keen to check out TM but not supposed to go onto at work.
Which is fair enough seeing I'm on this forum and others most of the day

Thanks again

Are you sure ??

That item goes from VGA to RCA, but it sounds like you want to go from RCA to VGA.

It doesn't appear bi-directional.

735092 2009-01-05 09:56:00 you want a composite to VGA adapter, they are a bit more complex than just a cable, they are quite expensive and they don't do a very good job (at least the ones I have used).

An example here...

735093 2009-01-05 19:20:00 Hey thanks guys

After a longer look at the one on TM I came to the same conclusion as yours, there are a couple of converters on TM for about 75$ and to be honest I was worried about the clarity of the conversion process.

I may just have to bite the bullet and buy a cheap lcd Tv for the kitchen.
Wish there was an easier way though because computer lcd monitors are so damn cheap compared to lcd TVs.
