734925 2009-01-04 07:08:00 Help again! I have a problem switching on my desktop. I think there's a problem with the PSU because normally when i switch on the power socket connected to the desktop, it automatically switches on. Now that doesn't happen and even though i manually switch it on, the PC is just whirring but it's not functioning. JA88 (14012)
734926 2009-01-04 07:10:00 Only way to find out, is to try another PSU. And see if it turns on Speedy Gonzales (78)
734927 2009-01-04 07:17:00 cause it's been facing lotsa problems lately. btw can the psu be refitted? how does it look like. JA88 (14012)
734928 2009-01-04 07:19:00 You wont see it until you open the case.

Its on the back of the case (the switch for it)

If its an HP or Dell system, it maybe different to other PSU's. And the other PSU's may not fit, in the case

734929 2009-01-04 07:23:00 Mine's a HP Compaq Presario about 2 years old. Btw how much roughly does it cost? Should i just scrap the computer or get a new one? JA88 (14012)
734930 2009-01-04 07:29:00 A new PSU would probably cost 60-maybe $90. For the cheapest ones

Up to you, whether you buy another computer, if you can afford it

Open the case and see if its full of dust, clean it out if it is

734931 2009-01-04 07:35:00 i've even tried to clean the fan of most of the dust but it's still problematic. it's been facing blue screen errors so often till i ran the malwarebytes and some other softwares u guys recommended me to use. JA88 (14012)
734932 2009-01-04 07:39:00 So it still boots then??? If it still crashes?

If its still crashing now, what are the stop errors now?
Speedy Gonzales (78)
734933 2009-01-04 07:49:00 It stopped crashing that frequently after i ran the softwares. I posted the error msg on another thread before. Some driver prob. Now the only problem is it can't switch on no matter how many times u try to force shut or on. JA88 (14012)
