734880 2009-01-04 02:53:00 Hi, I bought 2009 version and installed it, activated the subscription and downloaded the new signatures with no problem. After that, I run the scan feature and it hangsup at 9% and startaover and does nothing. I am also having a problem stopping/closing the program. I am running on XP home edtion and everything is up to date from microsoft. My old AV was ESET NOD32.....

I have removed all old AV programs... I did talk with customer support lastnight and I was unable to finish it before they closed.

They had me install TIS/TAV16.0 Hotfix installer, it doesn't complete the install for some reason, it comes back with a -> Checking program version - 17.0.1224 (No pass) Installation failed!

Any help would be great.....
Thanks

It sounds a lot like the program didn't install correctly - or you have damaged system files someplace.

Was the Nod32 removed Before or after you installed trend ?? - It must be removed first - mind you hate to say it, but you actually had a LOT better Antivirus installed with Nod32 - its far better and lighter on the system than trend.

Have you tried un-installing trend, then reinstalling it - Obviously Trends support is rubbish if they stop part way through and leave a customer hanging.

If the hotfix wont even install then theres a problem with the system someplace - or a crappy hotfix. You can try this, but may have no effect - click start/run type in sfc /scannow <Press Enter> windows will scan your drive for damaged or missing files, it may ask for your windows CD, so have it handy. Reboot, retry the hotfix, OR un-install Trend and retry.

Edited: one other thing I have just remembered about - theres a high possibility that IF you have ANY other antispyware programs installed there will be problems - Trend wants to do every thing and may clash with other programs - this is NOT a good Idea, as NO one antispyware program will catch everything. Last year with the 2008 version I had a hell of a time removing trend from a customers PC when it failed.

734882 2009-01-04 15:08:00 Thanks for your reply.... It worked, I'm going to try Trend Micro because I could not get NOD32 to work on this machine. When downloading the new signuature updates, it would not allow the my macine to create a "temporary directory" the message would say error creating a temporary directory. Why would window not allow it to create a temporary directory? I have the administrator on my account.

Oh, I do have NOD32 on every machine in the house, just not this one. I have been happy with it. I have been using it for 18 months....

I installed software for my son for his school, it connects him straight into a sever for testing. That is when I started to have problems... I thought it might have something to do with Java??

Do you have any ideas......

Thanks again.....

734883 2009-01-04 18:56:00 Nod may have been playing up because of the same fault that was affecting trend. wainuitech (129)
