| 736135 | 2009-01-08 07:17:00 | I have been asked to advise details for parts etc etc for building a machine. really can't be bothered doing this. Can anyone point me to a site that lets you build the computer online swap parts in and out etc then buy the finished product? |

| 736139 | 2009-01-08 18:47:00 | DeSade it is a hard one to advise on as your client can be swayed in many ways. Talk to the person first and see what they are expecting, and their budget. Find out if they want quality components in which case your quote would be higher or just a computer. In my eyes I always build quality for myself and used to quote the best components, then the person would see the price and go buy a Dell. A few weeks/months later come back and appologise because they ended up with junk. I have had that happen 3 times. On another occasion I quoted on a Laptop, same thing I looked out one of the best ones based on the blokes work. He ended up buying a cheap one while passing through Hong Kong, 2 Months later he was trying to flog it off and came to back to me for something reliable. |

| 736140 | 2009-01-08 19:27:00 | Its just something I got roped into for a work colleague and I can't be bothered trolling through the sites unless its for me :) The PP one works well to find the gear, doesn't mean it has to be purchased there but I have had good service from them in the past. |

I always discuss it with the person first. Quality does not always been way more cost. Slightly more maybe. And it all depends what they want to use it for and whether they care about bling or not. Some get good components and a boring case. Never a crap PSU though. I won't let them. If you can't be bothered doing it properly then don't do it at all - point them to a decent shop like Computer Lounge and they can order it themselves. You get crap parts and whatever happens to it later will become your fault. |
