735717 2009-01-07 07:05:00 My friend just bought his PS3 but just could not connect to the Internet. Have tried both auto and manual internet setting but all came up with following error:

" DNS Error: 80710102"

We have checked and double-checked the DNS settings but to no avail.

The following settings were used:

IP address: 192.168.1.133
subnet Mast: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1

Primary DNS: 202.27.158.40
Sec DNS: 202.27.156.72

We have 2 computers connected to the same network with no problems in accessing the Internet.

Any gamers in this Forum can assist us in setting up this PS3?

Cheers

735721 2009-01-07 11:31:00 If you're doing the manual connection settings (static IP) then set the Primary DNS IP address as your router, ie. 192.168.1.1 -> your default gateway (can leave secondary blank). Rather than the ISPs DNS directly. That worked when I set one up.

Let me know how it goes.

735722 2009-01-07 21:18:00 Have a PS3 here that can connect either Wired or Wireless but had to set it up manually. I use 10.0.0.* and 255.255.255.0

I know it took some messing around but I got there in the end. I found that something else was using the IP so a fixed IP solved that one.
