536724 2007-03-29 07:13:00 rubber shoes would make it worse wouldn't it??
first get a anti static strap and make sure you know how to use it
I've seen anti-static mats too but I just use the strap

also if I'm feeling lazy and just touching my old computer
I just touch the comp case every so often to discharge any charge build up on my body

I've also heard about how you can keep your power cable plugged in but with switch on wall OFF
this allows the ground to be still connected..but I personally never do it this way

higher humility also helps to stop static because charges can't build up as easily
so get rid of any dehumidifier where you open up your comp I guess..

Don't wear nylon clothes.

Stop scuffing your feet when you walk.

More information is needed before we can help you, for example: where do you live, what are the external temperatures/humidity levels, is your house airconditioned, is it a seasonal problem, what are your floor coverings made of, what do you wear on your feet, do you normally have very dry skin etc.

Some solutions are simple, others may take a bit of time and effort. Ignore the silly answers, they come from people who have no idea so try to make a joke of it.

Cheers
