Why bother if it doesn't have a built in HD-DVD and/or Blueray drive. They are selling an add on HDDVD drive for the 360, but why not put one into the actual console.

I think it's an incredibly smart move on Microsoft's part. I reckon they're as unsure as anyone which way this whole high-def format war will turn out. By keeping the drive separate they can then switch to Bluray at a later date should HD-DVD fall flat on its face.

It also keeps the initial cost of the console down for gamers who just want to play games.

What would be really cool is an internal drive bay that you could swap the optical drive out of at a later date...that'd cut down on the external box mess but still offer the same degree of flexibility you get through having an external add-on drive.
