Or, Satellite up and down, quite expensive as you have to have a satellite transmitter on-site as well . A neighbour at our weekend cottage wanted two-way sattelite and was prepared to pay, but a hill was in the way for that satellite, so went the Bordernet way . But there is a lot of expensive hardware involved (including Satellite bandwidth rental by the ISP) so there will be no cheap way out . |

| 536191 | 2007-03-27 09:31:00 | Yes we certainly realise the expense in the equipment. Its the up and down pricing that differs immensely! Weve seen pricing from 100 odd a month to 400 odd a month. We have direct sight to the west so thats not a problem. Using dumb telecom we can only get 31.2 kps. Theres a lot you cannot do with that speed. We were given a contact for Marae connections, and could hook up with that, but it proved to be a load of %^$*^&*% .. hes got a site and all for it .. GRRRRRR |

| 536192 | 2007-03-27 10:11:00 | The variation in pricing probably reflects the length of contract. Longer contract = lower price, as they recover it in profits over the longer period. So look at both aspects. |
