536317 2007-03-28 10:20:00 I have always been suspicious of anything that uses the Natural or Healthy label.
And that includes organic foods
Problem is that prescription medicines are put under the microscope while what can be sold to the general public in supermarkets or health stores are not subject to the same scrutiny. There are hundreds of products that make such claims, both by large multi nationals and your local mum and pop operation.
Very few of them have had to front up and prove the claims they make but the few that have, often come a cropper.

What amuses me about the Ribena debacle is that having admitted that they ran misleading ads they are claiming that it was a honest mistake.
Of cause we all think that, I am sure

This is what GSK Say on their www.ribena.co.nz website says

Four Times Statement

With regard to the “four times” claim – on a weight for weight basis, the claim that “the blackcurrants in Ribena contain four times the Vitamin C of oranges” is actually factually correct. However we accept the Commission’s view that this may have had the potential to mislead some customers. There was never any intention to mislead our customers, however to avoid any potential confusion, we quickly began removing the claim from our packaging and advertising across our entire Ribena range more than a year ago. These actions were completed last year.

They don't admit to any misleading, despite the fact that in a diluted form there is almost no Vit C, and they even had the 4x statement on these same diluted bottles.

This website en.wikipedia.org GSK also claim that they weren't contacted by those 2 girls in 2004 who found the problem. Someone is lying, would you trust GSK, or a school and two 14 year old girls who were performing a school experiment.

536321 2007-03-29 00:17:00 Lamb Curry

2 onions diced
1/3 tsp Sambal Oelek
1.5kg diced lamb
2 tin coconut cream
1 carrot diced
2 tsp Tumeric & Garam Masala
1 tsp Cumin & Coriander

Put into pot.
Simmer for about 1.5 hours till tender.
Thicken, season, serve.

Curry Scandal.
I find it appalling that this recipe is described as curry. 1/3 tsp Sambal Oelek? should be at least 1 tbs, 1 tsp Gara Masala? no Chilli? I should report you to the commerce commision and I'm not even a schoolgirl:D

And what has this to do with anything?

536324 2007-03-29 02:21:00 At a guess, the last production operation would be pasteurisation. That would be enough to decompose the vitamin C.

So you can be sure there's no bacterial contamination in the "health" drink. But, even apart from the sugar content, there's probably not much "health" in it.

536325 2007-03-29 07:19:00 I have been drinking the Ribena flavored lolly water for years and I noticed ages ago that it seemed much more watered down than I remembered from when I was a child, every now and again I buy one of the bottles and notice the difference even though that is watered down when I prepare it but still tastes so much richer. I reckon I should get a refund for all of those sub-standard cardboard carton versions I have drunk over the years.

Lucazaid (sp?) seems different (weaker) perhaps those young women should take a look at that as well.
Lol i used to drink the concentrate by its self, even that seems watered down
