Greven, if you have the time, buy a whole lamb leg and roast it at 140 for about 4 hours. Carve with a credit card. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM ORRRR . |

I didn't manage to get back to the net (got distracted by a phone call) but that is what I ended up doing. It turned out really nice for something that doesn't require much effort to cook. A lamb swirl (or at least what I got from the supermarket labled as a lamb swirl) appears to be minced lamb rolled up in pastry, so you get a swirl of pastry through the meat. A whole lamb leg would probably feed me & my flatmate for a week :) |

| 535983 | 2007-03-27 03:00:00 | He's probably refering to a deboned shoulder of lamb, flattened out, with a layer of some sort of stuffing, rolled up, tied with string, and cooked as a roast. Our local butcher sells butterflied lamb - deboned leg flattened out. I did the same thing myself with it - made a stuffing (with lots of rosemary and garlic in it) spread it over the butterflied lamb. Then rolled it up and tied with string. Into an oven bag, into the oven and an hour later it was booootiful ... |

| 535987 | 2007-03-27 08:14:00 | What I forget is the accompaniements, ie potatoes, rice or pasta. I get all of the meat ready including the herbs and spices and have been so focussed on that, then Mrs Misty says what are we having with that, where's the rice and veges ? My advice is keep it simple initially and get the timing right. For instance work out when things should be put on the heat, meat, rice, veges, etc. Misty ;) |
