2009-01-08 08:50:00 Is it the same on power & battery? Driftwood (5551)
2009-01-09 06:19:00 yes same problem, just to stop the pc we had to remove power cord and also remove battery, cheers. toddh (6125)
2009-01-09 06:30:00 Start the laptop as normal - but keep tapping the F8 key , select with the arrow keys, Safe mode <press Enter> - see if it boots into safe mode OK - if it does, click start/All Programs / Accessories / System tools / System restore- when it opens select "restore my computer to an earlier time" - when the calendar pops open, select a date before the laptop started running slow - let it wind the system backwards - it will hopefully reboot normally. wainuitech (129)
2009-01-09 07:10:00 is it slow or dosen't boot up? pcuser7895 (12979)
2009-01-09 07:28:00 it is so slow to boot up I cannot even get into windows normally, from the blue "Windows XP is starting" screen it just sits, so I closed the lid, reopened and hit the on button, login screen appeared ( Yippee ) and very slowly produced a desktop with no start button or the row along the bottom to the system tray, all other desktop icons were present, managed to cntl, alt, del asked it to restart and that so far is taking about ten minutes to do that. toddh (6125)
2009-01-09 07:34:00 can u use program once u gone in? pcuser7895 (12979)
2009-01-09 07:46:00 not sure as cannot get to start, button or command line, only knew how to cntl, alt, del and then ask it to restart, which it is finally after twenty minutes gone through a number of screens and hopefully about to login or restart. toddh (6125)
2009-01-09 07:50:00 wat about the mouse? did u wait a while before pressing restart? pcuser7895 (12979)
2009-01-09 08:55:00 have you tried booting into safe mode Like I suggested - that loads ONLY the windows default drivers enough to start the system, not all the other crap that normally loads.

What you are describing is a classic case and I see this almost daily of either spyware or damaged system files.
