735693 2009-01-07 04:23:00 An HP desktop system. When the PC is turned on, the display lights on the screen light up. Just as the PC starts the POST routine the screen turns off. I have tried a second screen, same thing.

Does this sound like a graphics card problem or simply a dud battery?

735694 2009-01-07 04:23:00 Sounds like graphics card to me gary67 (56)
735695 2009-01-07 04:32:00 Try going into the BIOS - See if it stays on when entering that - On startup keep tapping either F1 or F2 - Being an HP - one of them should take you into the BIOS - different HP's have different BIOS entry keys.

If that doesn't work try DEL Key.

Does the PC have onboard Graphics or a dedicated Card ?

735696 2009-01-07 04:38:00 Is there an integrated graphics that you can try out?

Cheers :)

735697 2009-01-07 05:18:00 I will be getting the PC on Friday so I will check if it has an intergrated or add on card.

However, we don't even get a thing on the screen when we turn the PC on, the screen just turns off before even the POST messages start. Might be a job for an expert tech.

735698 2009-01-08 01:42:00 A crook display card [or on-board H P graphics] can do this. You might need a tekkie. PENTIUM (426)
