I didn't see this last night.
But today I have looked at my lawn.
(Did you mean front or back?)

In fact, I spoke to my lawn.
Nothing underneath it admitted to having a birthday yesterday- and as mine was almost exactly 6 months ago, I assume you've made friends there whom I haven't met..?.
As I've spent much of my life - on and off - in this house, I'm slightly wounded that they've ignored me, but communicated with you..

Please introduce us.

536049 2007-03-27 02:49:00 Is that not good Otago soil under there? And wasn't one of the options for Otago's Anniversary the 26th?
(And sorry about revealing where the bodies are hidden ;) )

Oh, that birthday.

Well, it had a particular weirdness this year.
The actual anniversary date is 23 March.

For decades there was messiness about celebrating it on the day or the nearest Monday or whatever.
So we had shops open, but not banks. Or postal deliveries but offices closed.
Recently it got basically Mondayised for "a long weekend."
But this year, when it fell on Friday & could've provided that while still being correct, it was celebrated on Monday the 26th.

I'm still tryinbg to think of a suitable word for that.
Weird may have to do...

P.S. Winston & pctek should've suffered it too. It's Otago/Southland's, I think.

Edit: And Nigel's. And Greven's.
And whoever else I've missed...

536051 2007-03-27 03:52:00 And next year, with Easter added to the mix, there can be even more fun with the day of observance, - the variability has a certain charm denied to more staid regions. ;) R2x1 (4628)
536052 2007-03-27 05:29:00 You Mainlanders are a unique breed with priceless customs and habits !!

Anyway - you deserve lots of celebrations and presents throughout the year, Laura. So take good cheer and have a glass or two of the sparkly stuff this evening
