737062 2009-01-10 19:01:00 Hi
Last night i plugged my usb(sandisk cruzer u3 titanium) into my friends computer and noticed that the big blue light on the side never came on, neither did the usb got detected. (not even in disk management in admin tools). so i plugged it back into my other computer and same problem. though i forgot to take it out thinking i resolve the matter later, after 40 odd min i looked at it and saw the light was back on. though no signs of detection in windows (vista). then i plugged it in my other machine which has xp. no light no detection no digdong. (i have tried the usb on the main usb port which is on the motherboard. not the front/side panel). i am lost i dont know what to do. i payed $80 for this a month ago because i was sick of using cheap ones. i

737065 2009-01-11 23:01:00 Do you use the safely remove icon everytime you remove the device from the computer USB port? SolMiester (139)

You could open it up, diagnose then replace the faulty parts OR 'take it back'
I also had a sandisk u3 fail. I just threw it in the bin & got a new one for $20

One thing.. DONT use the front USB ports, they can fry usb dives (Including ipods) when they go bad. There may be an issue with one of the PC's you plugged it into.

This is a valid point as these ports are connected to the motherboard header via cable, and some cable jobs are not as good as others, especially if they end up shorting....

I usually use the back port hard soldered to the motherboard with an extension cable for easy access

yes. i am very carefull about these things. though i did get a Windows delayed write failure message just when it stopped working.

This unfortunately is the 1st sign of a failing drive, USB or normal Hard Drive
