| 736905 | 2009-01-10 06:24:00 | Ok I am having a minor issue with my machine and ram Motherboard A7n8x-x 3 ram slots dual boot Vista and Xp My machine should take up to 3 gbs of ram and it previously hhad 1.5 Gb 1 stick of 1Gb 2 sticks of 250mb I bought a 1Gb stick of budget ram and put it in the system to replace one of the 250mb ones, Under vista it doesn't work, the vista loading progress bar thingie appears and then it either hangs or reboots, however if I remove the other 250Mb stick so there are only the 2 x 1GB sticks the machine works fine However XP boots fine with the 2 x 1GB and the 256Mb stick in place Which seems really odd to me I have scanned all the ram with the memory test thing and it all came up fine, so I am kind of at a loss, i really want the 256mb stick of ram for vista to work as my budget is well and truly blasted after Xmas and i know its a small amount but every little bit helps |
